This is the page description.
Hohokam, Sobaipuri, Pima, and O’odham folk have been around since before time learned to run in a straight line. But Tucson itself ain’t so old.
Now, it’s been a while since we called this town by it’s full name, San Augustin del Tucsón. And, it’s been a bit since a rowdy herd of bulls drove off some would-be American invaders. But it ain’t been so long since Tucson was the capital of the Confederate Arizona Territory. Nor has it been all that long since Arizona became a US state and all those government types moved up north. (Ironic given Phoenix isn’t even in traditional Arizona.)
So Tucson, as a stand of buildings amid the cacti, ain’t all that old. But we’re still out here, kicking up dust, slaking our thirst with rain and bacanora, making music with coyotes, watching the galaxies swirl around Wasson way out after Speedway ends.
This here passport documents a series of spots around town that’ll help you make constellations on land as fruitful and gorgeous as any in the sky.
